Cow Asylum
Camp Asylum at Capricon 29

February 20 and 21st The Cow Asylum will be in Chicago for Capricon throwing a party we’re calling ‘Camp Asylum’ in accordance with the con’s theme.

The usual suspects will be there with a few twists, per our usual.  It’s a new hotel with new suites so we are a little apprehensive.   We are having a little trouble getting details from the con (room sizes and contents, mostly) but we’ve got reservations and contingency plans in place.

We also, at the same planning meeting, began discussing plans for Convergence this coming July.   As far as that goes, we need to have a little more detail from their Parties folks in terms of what the rules are for the new 4 day format.   We need a good location to support our heavy traffic but they aren’t clear on whether we are required to run a party every one of the 4 days in order to secure a good location.

Things are looking good so far and we are on track to get the parties together.

If you need details or want to help out, let us know!

MMMMMmmmooooooo!

Asylum Care Package Recipient In the News

Today we were contacted by the wife of the seaman we were collecting items for at Convergence 08. He is quoted in a Defense Link article about 3 sailors currently in Afghanistan, a land locked nation, in support of ongoing combat operations. Check out the article here: Defense Link (pops new window)

Petty Officer Lee Chandler was the recipient of a package containing gifts and memorabilia from Convergence 08.

It is the earnest hope of all of us at the Cow Asylum that Lee and the rest of his brothers and sisters in uniform return home to share a beer with us soon.

Lee: take care, be well, stay safe.

Bovine Revolutionary Command?

I happened across this the other day and wondered if, perhaps, the Cows Revolution is starting to get organized after all!

Jon is an Asylum Attendee?

Who knew that Jon from Garfield minus Garfield was an Asylum attendee?  Mooo!

CONvergence 2008 Asylum Part 6

I thought I’d write up a short review of how the CONvergence Asylum went this year. As I wrote down the series I realized that there’s a LOT to this weekend. Thus this will be a multi-part series delivered over several days. That being said, let’s move on to…

The Uprising has Begun!

The Bovine Revolution has started…but isn’t going so well. I didn’t think that the Bovine Revolutionary Council would have chosen Colorado for the first battle of the Revolution but who am I to question the best and brightest that bovine-kind can produce.

Anyone for steak? Meet me outside Buffalo with a fork.

Convergence 2008’s Hot Asylum Dancers

Yes, getting our pics up has been taking longer than expected and I feel badly about it. Not only have there been technical concerns but naturally work corps up the minute I get home from a 1 week vacation. None of that really does make it all better.
